About the Event

Join local author Val Scully during national Heritage Open Days for a pleasurable evening celebrating the heritage of the fascinating area of Blaydon Burn, while enjoying a glass of wine and tasty nibbles in our lovely Heritage Centre, looking out on the soft evening light of the Derwent Valley.

Like the Derwent Valley, the Blaydon Burn has a rich and fascinating history with surprising international links.  During this illustrated talk, Val will share how she intensively researched the significant triangular area between Stella Hall, the Black Bull and Blaydon Burn House, weaving social and industrial history into a fully illustrated book.  You will hear about the astonishingly rich and fascinating heritage of the Blaydon Burn, Path Head and Summerhill area just over the hill

It promises to be an interesting evening all about the rich heritage and stories of the people and industry of the Land of Oak & Iron.

There will also be an opportunity for a Q&A, along with signed copies available to purchase of The Wheel of Time and some of Val's other local history books.

Our evening talks are really popular and Val’s talks sell out quickly.

Tickets £14.95 including a glass of wine (or fruit juice) and delicious platter of nibbles (vegetarian/vegan option available).

Booking essential.
