About the Event
Fancy learning a new skill? Then come along to this new workshop with Carrie Dennison of Well Being Crafts, learning the traditional art of Mexican metal embossing.
A fun introduction to the art of metal embossing, learning how to make traditional ‘corazones mexicanos’ – Mexican hearts or sacred hearts, based on the Mexican artform of ‘milagritos’ - ‘little miracles’.
We’ll start on a practice piece and will go through the method of transferring the design to the metal, learning the techniques of metal embossing.
Then we’ll move on to designing and creating a heart, learning a few extra techniques along the way. Finally we’ll learn how to add a finish to your heart to make it look aged and will then decorate to add plenty of colour.
Each student will leave the workshop with a beautiful hand-crafted heart.
Suitable for beginners or those who have tried embossing before.
